Oliver's first major movie role came when famed Hong Kong film director, Alfred Cheung Kin-Ting, offered him the lead in the action comedy Her Fatal Ways Pt.4. His next film Crosslines, a controversial drama shot in Canada, was directed by award winning director Jamie Luk. You may also have seen Oliver on the big screen working with Jet Li in the blockbuster movie Romeo Must Die, a Warner Brothers production produced by Joel Silver ( The Matrix ). One of Oliver's last projects, Second Time Around, directed by Jeff Lau ( Black Rose, Chinese Odyssey) debuted at number two behind Harry Potter in Hong Kong. The movie also starred Miss Hong Kong & Miss World participate Annamarie Tan, Ekin Cheng Yee-Kin, Cecilia Cheung Pak-Chi, and Jonathan Quan of The Goonies and Indiana Jones - Temple of Doom fame.

Oliver's career in the entertainment industry began when he was first discovered by the popular teenage magazine show, Zap Rap, on HKTVB. He later appeared on and hosted, amongst other things, Eye on Hong Kong, Pearl Movie Watch, Jade Sports, and Cable TV. Oliver was noticed by and later worked with Alan More Films from the home of the James Bond movies, the world famous Pinewood Studios in England. The show Performance World was aired on satellite television in Asia.
